Pastoral Interns Program 2008
Degree/Diploma of Ministry ( Tamil)

1. How our Pastoral Interns Program works ?

The Pastoral Interns Program (PIP) Degree/Diploma Program  is jointly offered by Evangelical Theological Seminary, Malaysia and Maranatha Bible Training Institute, India. The course is a combination of lectures, assignments and practical work. To gain credits, the students must complete the following:-


Attend lectures, sit and  pass an examination for that module.


Complete reading assignments and elective texts.


Complete practicum supervised by a mentor

When a student accumulates sufficient credits by completing these modules , he will be awarded the Diploma/Degree of Ministry. A student will take approximately 3 years for the Diploma and 4 ½ years for the Degree of Ministry

2. COURSES OFFERED FOR YEAR 2008

2.1 TERM  1  :  March 10-20, 2008

a) Day Class:  March 10-14 , 2008
Topic : New Testament Survey.
Time :  8.00 am to 1.00 pm. ( Monday – Friday)

Course Description
This course gives an overview of the New Testament and will help a student put each book of the Bible in perspective.

b) Night Class : March 10-20, 2008
Topic :  Bible Times and Customs
Time     : 7pm – 9.45 pm ( Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday )
            : 2 pm – 6 pm ( Saturday)

Course Description.
This course gives a back ground of the customs and culture at the time  the different books of the  Bible were written. Understanding Bible customs  will give you  a clearer picture of what the Bible means.

Lecturer :  Shelton Johnson
Shelton Johnson is a gifted Bible teacher from India. In 1979, he left India and moved to Zambia to take a position as a teacher  in the Ministry of Education. In 1987, obeying God’s call on his life, he returned to India to become  a Bible teacher in various schools,  with a vision  to train and equip young men and women for the Ministry. Shelton holds a Bachelor of Ministry and currently resides in Chennai, India. He is married to Grace and they have 2 children.

2.2 TERM 2 :  Sept 15-25 , 2008

a) Day Class : Sept 15-19, 2008
Topic :  Pastoral Ministries II ( Evangelism, Church Administration, Cell Groups, Cell Church Concepts, Shepherding )
Time :  8.00 am to 1.00 pm. ( Monday – Friday)

Course Description:
This course covers some important ministries that every church needs. Understanding these ministries will help a pastor organize and grow his church.

b) Night Class: Sept 15-25, 2008
Topic : Leadership II ( Training Faithful Men, Mentoring, Church Structure )
Time     : 7pm – 9.45 pm ( Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday )
            : 2 pm – 6 pm    ( Saturday)

Course Description:
As a church grow, a Pastor must raise his own  leaders. A church can only grow up to the level where the needs of the sheep are met.  If a Pastor does not raise leaders, the church can never grow. This course trains Pastors  how to raise leaders, train faithful men and  mentor them. Church leadership structures will also be taught.

c) Lecturer : Rev Jagadeesan Kalyanakumar
Rev. J Kalyanakumar, from India,  holds a Masters Degree in Bible and Missions and has been in ministry for 20 years.  He is the founder director of Harvest Apostolic Ministries in India, a training and church planting movement, which has trained more than 400 workers and planted 60 churches in the last 8 years.  He is also the Principal of the Evangelical Theological Seminary, Malaysia since  its inception in 1998. He leads a staff team of 120 and has written many equipping books for cell groups. Kumar is married to Choo Sook Ping, a Malaysian Chinese for 12 years and they have a beautiful 6 year old daughter, Jeanette Nithyaa.

3. COURSE FEES.
For credit students –     RM 400 for 2 modules per term
                                    RM 350 for any 1 module per term
For audit students  -      RM 200.00 for 1 or 2 modules per term

4. Accommodation
Accommodation (with air-cond) is available for outstation and overseas students, subject to availability.
Dormitory         : RM 75
Single               : RM 150
Rooms are subject to availability and on first come, first served basis.
